About The Artist

Jayme Anderson is Te Aupouri tribe from Tekao on the northwest tip of North Island.

Jayme has lived much of his life in Napier in the North Island, but recently moved to Hokitika in the South Island. He schooled at Napier Boys High and then completed his three-year Diploma in Visual Art and Design at the Eastern Institute of Technology.

He has no formal apprenticeship, but says he has been always interested in the sculptural works of Henry Moore and influenced by the early New Zealand jade carvers of the late 1970s.

He is not from a family of artists, but has made his own name in the media of jade, silver and gold.
