Irene Richards
I am excited by landscape and for over 55 years have sketched and painted where ever I have been. I also memorize and synthesize details that fascinate me and sometimes include Christian imagery.
I complete the works in my Hokitika Studio. I use heavy watercolour paper or canvas to create work from tiny miniatures to large canvases in oils or acrylics.
Since gaining DFA Hons Painting from Canterbury University in 1963 I have had solo exhibitions and been included in Public Collections and N.Z. Exhibitons in the late 1960's along side Toss Woollaston and Colin McCahon.
Since helping found the Hokitika Craft Gallery in 1996 my work has been displayed constantly in it. Many of my works are in private collections world wide.
